Program Description

“The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.” -Brian Herbert
Feedback is one of the most challenging things for a leader to give, and can be one of the most difficult things for an individual to hear. Delivering and receiving feedback is a skill many of us struggle with on a daily basis. Often our intentions are misunderstood and conversations can quickly go south when using the wrong phrase, tone of voice, or delivery method. Although it can be nerve wracking or difficult to deliver feedback, there is no individual, position or role in an organization that can grow without it.

Participants will learn to:

  • Set up a safe space to ensure your feedback is heard
  • Clarify your intentions when delivering difficult messages
  • Understand the triggers that block us from hearing important feedback from others
  • Focus on facts vs. feelings without losing your intuition
  • Differentiate between appreciation, coaching and evaluation
  • Shift your thinking from “right vs. wrong” to “I’m curious, tell me more”
  • Work through difficult feedback you don’t agree with
  • Develop strategies for closing a difficult conversation with a commitment for change in the future
