Target Audience:
Any healthcare related worker
Program Description:
Among today’s work environment, there are commonly representatives across five different generations. Each generation has encountered unique foundational experiences that have shaped their core values and beliefs, work approaches and expectations, and communication preferences. Like any element contributing to diversity among the workforce, when not fully understood, generational perspectives can create points of friction among teams and in the delivery of healthcare.
This workshop supports both leaders and frontline employees to develop the fundamental understanding to bridge generational divides and foster stronger working relationships across persons of varying ages.
Program Objectives – Participants will learn to:
- Understand core values influenced by generational experiences
- Reduce generational conflict through understanding different perspectives
- Foster communication and collaboration among coworkers of all ages
- Explore what “Life in Balance” means for different generations
- Reflect on patient preferences at varying ages
Consider taking this workshop if the following are mostly true for you:
- You are interested in learning about the characteristics of the various generations currently within today’s workforce
- You recognize generational differences (communication methods, use of technology, approach to work, etc.) among your colleagues and/or the patients you serve and are curious to cater your approach to their needs
- You notice friction between individuals of different ages but you’re not sure how to minimize its impact on relationships
- You are interested in demonstrating respect for all those you interact with in a way that matches their preferences
