Target Audience:
Healthcare supervisors and managers, both experienced and new in their role
Program Description:
Moving into a healthcare leadership role meant no more charting…or so you thought. However, proper documentation of employee performance is a critical leadership skill. The challenge is that it’s often assumed that leaders know how to document correctly. And it just so happens that the absence of solid documentation is one of the most common mistakes leaders make when handling employee results and behavior—both good and bad.
Learn how to document the right way—the way that tells the story (with less effort). This workshop builds the foundation for defensible documentation of both praise-based and constructive-focused performance.
Participants will learn to:
- Apply the Rounding process to engage employees
- Understand the why, how, what & when of routine performance documentation
- Practice defensible documentation
- Identify performance review errors to avoid
- Explore mid-year coaching conversation practices
Consider taking this workshop if the following are mostly true for you:
- You've heard the term “Rounding” but you’re not quite sure what it’s really about
- Rounding is new for you and you’d like to most the most of it
- You haven’t been seeing the value from Rounding
- There are super stars on your team but admittedly, you don’t often write down the details about the great things they are doing
- You have a low performer or two on your team and you haven’t made a habit of detailing your observations
- You are struggling with an employee’s performance and HR isn’t able to support your desire to move to discipline because there isn’t sufficient evidence of poor performance
- Making your expectations of performance clear is a real challenge
- You aren’t sure how to document coaching conversations
- You groan when it comes to writing performance reviews—there isn’t anything to write!
- You’d like to have more frequent conversations about employees’ development but you don’t know where to start
