As a coordinator of a rural training program, you know there are unique differences involved in residency training in a smaller hospital setting. This event will address the unique aspects of your program with an emphasis on the annual GME calendar, recruitment and interviewing, community engagement, rural curriculum, and highlighting the ROI on a UME/GME investment. You will have an opportunity to learn from other coordinators, network, share best practices, and more!

10:30 – 11:00 am Year in Review: Explore the Annual GME Calendar
11:00 – 12:00 pm Recruitment and Interview Season: Going beyond the basic considerations
12:00 – 12:45 pm LUNCH (provided)
12:45 – 1:00 pm Regroup and Time for Questions
1:00 – 2:00 pm Community Involvement/Engagement: Identify ways to introduce and involve residents (and significant others) in the rural community
2:00 – 3:00 pm Rural Curriculum: Learn about different models of curriculum, approaches to specialty rotations, and more
3:00 – 3:30 pm Investment in UME and GME: What is the ROI?
3:30 – 4:00 pm Reflections on the Day: What questions haven’t been answered?

Workshop will include:

  • Electronic copy of presentations and resources for all participants (also hard-copies for in-person participants)
  • Scheduled time for Q&A after each session
  • Networking opportunities to become acquainted your fellow coordinators of rural programs around the country
