Being an adult is challenging somedays, if not most days. There are so many things to do, between work, home and all the extracurricular activities you have said yes to with your family, friends and community. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel like I am running in the gerbil wheel of responsibilities, get off exhausted, fall into bed, sleep for a few hours if I am blessed, and then get up to do it all over again. Can you identify? It is time to get off the gerbil wheel more often! You with me?

My refueling suggestion this month is to escape to your happy place, either literally or figuratively. It can be as simple as “going” to your happy place mentally a couple of times a day. Giving yourself a much-needed break from running so hard and fast all the time. As you go there in your mind’s eye, think about the following questions:
- What do you see, smell, taste, hear, and feel? Engage all of your senses.
- What is your favorite part of your happy place?
- What are you like when you are in the experience?
- Does it bring you joy or feel like freedom?
- How relaxed do you become?
- What are the life reminders or life lessons that come forward there?
- Can you feel your heart expanding or whispering awareness to you?
The ocean is my happy place. I love everything about it…the sights, the sounds of the waves lapping, the smells, the breeze, the shells, the sand, the beauty of sunrises/sunsets and the healing properties for my soul. I feel so alive, so deeply connected to my purpose and my higher power. I love it so much so that I choose to literally get there at least once a year. When not literally on the ocean, I take a “mental” break and put myself ocean side even if it is just for a moment, it is so refreshing.

Take time to escape to your happy place either literally or figuratively with your mind’s eye. You deserve all that it brings to you. You deserve to refuel every day! It fills your heart so that you have more to give to others and gives you enough umph to keep doing what needs to be done each day!
Where is your happy place? I would love to hear from you.
