MEAC Educational Webinar- 2020

We have learned a lot about our jobs as coordinators and administrators during this pandemic. This talk will focus on our role in shaping what our day looks like when we return to the office. We can be leaders in eliminating inefficiency in our day, setting new expectations for communication with our program leadership, and discovering wellness for personal health and work satisfaction.

OB Emergencies - August 2020

This course is designed to review several obstetrical emergencies which require the caregiver to recognize risk factors, assessment findings and required interventions to low volume/high risk OB situations. Throughout the day, several obstetrical emergencies will be reviewed along with describing signs and symptoms and priority interventions needed/required; these include, but are not limited to: pre-eclampsia/HELLP syndrome, obstetrical hemorrhage situations, shoulder dystocia, emergency delivery, uterine trauma and premature labor. In addition, knowledge learned will be applied and integrated into several simulated case studies.

Preceptor Training Program (2-day) Aug 2020

This 2-day* workshop will build those teaching and mentoring skills necessary to engage new employees in a way that builds competence and confidence for both learner and mentor. It provides opportunities for practice and feedback related to the essential skill set for preceptors through simulation learning and role-playing scenarios.*Preceptors must attend both days. Class is from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on both days.

Nursing Supervisor Boot Camp (3-day) September 2020

Are you a new charge nurse or team supervisor? Or do you aspire to become one someday? Are you a charge nurse or team supervisor who needs to be inspired to do the job more effectively? Are you a newer nursing team leader or manager? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then this boot camp is designed just for you. During this 3-day boot camp we will explore many aspects of nursing supervision in rural healthcare. Throughout this interactive boot camp, participants will be engaged in activities including partner and group discussions, self-reflection, role playing of effective communication/conflict management techniques, problem-solving case studies and collaborative sharing of ideas. This comprehensive course is designed to provide the core foundation of nursing supervision across the care continuum.

Pediatric Assessment/Emergencies- Sept 2020

It is imperative to recognize that pediatric patients are not little adults. This course is designed to review the anatomy and physiology considerations that differentiate the assessment of the pediatric patient from that of an adult. Within the assessment findings, children will demonstrate subtle clues that their condition is beginning to deteriorate requiring the healthcare provider to rapidly intervene before they decompensate. Throughout the day several pediatric emergencies will be reviewed along with describing priority interventions needed/required. Knowledge learned will be applied and integrated into several simulated case studies.

Off the Beaten Path: Training, Practice & Life in Rural WI - 2020

Tour a rural hospital and clinic, hear from rural providers about their practice, listen to a panel of professionals talk about rural life, learn about the rural training opportunities that exist in Wisconsin, and attend various workshops. The afternoon sessions will include resident-lead activities and various networking opportunities.
