Target Audience:

Leaders, directors, managers, supervisors, department leads, HR and wellness coordinators. Anyone responsible for leading or supporting healthcare teams.

Program Description:

Healthcare professionals are often exposed to high-stress, emotionally charged and sometimes traumatic experiences.  This workshop explores the critical role of leadership in understanding, addressing and mitigating the effects of trauma within our environment.  It will highlight the prevalence of trauma among individuals including our healthcare employees and the patients we care for, while identifying its profound impact on mental, emotional and physical well-being. Together, we will cover a snapshot framework for implementation of a trauma informed leadership model that will guide the leader to foster a safe, supportive and empathetic workplace while implementing strategies to prevent re-traumatization and promote healing.  By integrating trauma-informed practices, leaders can enhance trust, resilience and productivity within their teams.

Program Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  1. Define trauma
  2. Articulate the prevalence of humans that have experienced trauma
  3. Identify key trauma informed principles
  4. Determine at least 2 practical strategies for supporting the healthcare workforce
  5. Recognize at least 2 benefits of implementing a trauma informed leadership model
