Program Description:

The importance of belonging as a part of the work experience is a concept that is only being fully studied and understood in recent years, yet it has a profound impact on performance success and workplace retention in ways many have never fully appreciated.  Whether we are conscious of our sense of belonging or not, we can all identify with what it feels like to not be fully included and the ability to be truly “ourselves” in group settings.

This workshop begins to peel away at the many layers of consideration that make up our sense of belonging, self-reflecting on our own feelings of belonging, as well as exploring how to foster more inclusive environments for all those with whom we routinely interact.

Participants will learn to:

  1. Understand how belonging impacts the success of a team
  2. Appreciate the various aspects of diversity
  3. Recognize our natural biases
  4. Connect with what exclusion feels like
  5. Define psychological safety and outline behaviors of inclusion
  6. Identify deliberate actions along the employee service continuum to encourage belonging

Consider taking this workshop if the following are mostly true for you:

  • You are curious to learn more about this more recent term “belonging” and how it impacts the workplace
  • You are interested to better understand your personal blinders that show up as unconscious biases
  • You want to foster a great working environment for not only yourself, but your whole team
  • You are interested in learning how to promote stronger retention among respected members of your team
  • You believe every person brings value and strengths to your team
  • You want to know how to help others feel comfortable to fully share them for the benefit and success of everyone
