Corrie Searles , MPT, Leadership Development Educator

With her 20+ years of experience in leadership both in and out of healthcare, her past roles have included leadership for therapy teams in hospitals, long term care, outpatient, and home health, as well as Cardiac Rehab, Occupational Health, Fitness Centers, and Stress Testing. Corrie has extensive experience in continuous improvement methodology and a passion for leadership development training. She has a Master ’s in Physical Therapy, a Certificate in Organizational Leadership, and a Certificate in Customer Service & Leadership training with Achieve Global. She is certified to teach Crucial Conversations through Vital Smarts in addition to being a certified coach for Shift Positive 360.

Program Description:

Your ‘to do’ list keeps growing. You’re feeling buried. If only you had time to teach others how to do some of these tasks! You know they want to grow and you want to grow them. But, so many of the tasks are yours to own. No one does the work as good as you can. On top of that, there’s the guilt that comes with asking others for help. Delegation is just some pie in the sky buzz word—it sounds great but it’s just not practical. Besides, the one time you tried it, it backfired.

Stop the excuses! Commit to delegating more and grow your team. Help yourself in the process. Make it happen. Learn how. Join this workshop to overcome the barriers and practice a 7-step process for successful delegation.

Participants will learn to:

  1. Articulate the advantages, disadvantages, fears & barriers of delegation
  2. Outline the Why, What, Who, When, and How of effective delegation
  3. Explore helpful and hurtful delegation statements
  4. Develop a delegation plan and agreement

Consider taking this workshop if the following are mostly true for you:

  • You know you need to grow your people but you need help with creating the structure of ‘how’
  • You know you should delegate but you don’t have time
  • You’re not sure how to ask others to accept tasks without feeling guilty about it
  • You work longer hours than anyone else in your department
  • It seems like you don’t have anything that others could really do to help take anything off your plate
  • You’ve been accused of micromanaging when you give tasks to others to complete
  • You feel like you can never be fully away from work, even on vacation you check in often
  • You want to delegate but you’re not sure what you CAN delegate
  • You have staff indicating that they want to grow in their careers but there aren’t formal growth opportunities available (promotions, new titles, pay increases)
