Cella Janisch-Hartline, RN, BSN, PCC Professional Certified Coach, is the Nursing & Leadership Development Senior Manager for Rural WI Health Cooperative. Cella brings her experience from over 40 years in various rural healthcare leadership positions to her work as she combines her passion for nursing, leadership, coaching and teaching. Named the 2018 Outstanding Educator through the National Rural Health Association, she engages healthcare participants across the country with her humorous, action-oriented and compassionate approach.

Sarah Ewers, BSN, RN, is the Nursing Clinical Development Educator for Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative. Sarah earned her Bachelor in Science of Nursing through Viterbo University and continues to hold herself accountable for multiple hours of continuing education. She brings a wealth of experience in providing quality care to patients in multiple settings including Intensive Care, Medical-Surgical, Rehabilitation, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care. She has a fresh approach that participants can relate to and bring back to their work practice to implement and grow in their career.

Ronda Pennekamp, RN, BSN, is the Nursing Clinical Development Educator for Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative. Ronda infuses energy and enthusiasm into every aspect of her work with the RWHC team. With Bachelor’s degrees in both Education and Nursing, she brings a unique blend of knowledge and nursing hands-on experience in rural healthcare. Ronda’s passion for learning, growth, and encouraging others to embrace new challenges shines through in every workshop she leads, as well as every interaction she participates in. Target Audience
All aspects for perioperative nurses (pre-op, intra-op and post-op) or nurses required to recover patients as part of their duties
Program Description:
This workshop is designed to help nurses and health care providers recognize risk factors, assessment findings and required interventions to low volume/high risk perioperative situations focused on obstetrical emergencies.
Program Objectives – Participants will learn to:
- Differentiate between emergency and unplanned C-Sections with considerations toappropriate treatment/interventions
- Review perioperative obstetrical emergencies: HELLP syndrome, obstetricalhemorrhages, shoulder dystocia, prolapsed cord, uterine rupture, emergency cesareandelivery and DIC
- Recognize the anatomy and physiology characteristics/considerations to eachidentified emergency discussed
- Prioritize surgical nursing interventions to above emergencies
- Understands the drug actions of common obstetrical medications that may be onboard at the time of an emergent c-section: magnesium sulfate, pitocin, methergine,hemabate, cytotec, and narcotics
- Engage in critical thinking/incorporating the knowledge learned through casestudies/simulation
- Discuss anesthesia delivered via general/spinal routes with impact to both patient andinfant
- Review Phase I recovery of the cesarean section patient with consideration of uniquepatient population factors
