The Wisconsin Health Information Technology Extension Center (WHITEC) – As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (HIT) awarded grants to support the adoption of HIT. These grants are supporting the creation and operation of Health Information Technology Regional Extension Centers (HITRC), which will provide education and technical assistance to help eligible primary care practices select, implement, and achieve meaningful use of certified EHR technology. Those providers who achieve meaningful use will be eligible for incentive payments from Medicare and Medicaid.
Six Wisconsin health care organizations collaboratively submitted an application for and were awarded a grant to become the HITRC for Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Health Information Technology Extension Center (WHITEC) is being operated as a division of MetaStar and the WHITEC Steering Committee provides oversight of the center. The Steering Committee is comprised of representatives from the six partnering organizations.

RWHC accepting nominations for the 2010 Rural Health Ambassador Awards – RWHC has established the Rural Health Ambassador Award to recognize employees at member hospitals who have gone above the call of duty in promoting their respective organizations, and made significant contributions to rural health care in general. The award criteria do not necessarily emphasize job performance or years of service – although these may be used as secondary factors in your internal selection process. Any organization that is a current member of RWHC is encouraged to select one employee to receive this annual award. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a history of fostering positive communication and relations within the hospital's respective service area - and beyond. Please submit nominations to Dave Johnson, Director of Member Relations and Business Development no later than Wednesday, March 31 2010.– Click here to download Nomination Form – |
