1.2 CEUs
RWHC is a CEU provider through the Wisconsin Society for Healthcare Education & Training (WISHET)

Presenters: Joyanne Pfeffer, BSN, RN, Clinical Educator, RWHC

Target Audience: CNAs who work in hospitals. Newly certified and experienced CNAs

Program Description:

This two-day workshop will empower the CNA to feel essential to the healthcare team. Through review of basic nursing assistant tasks to understanding common diseases seen in patients, participants will learn the importance of their role. Hospital CNAs need a different set of skills than long term care CNAs and this workshop identifies them. Critical thinking skills will be introduced and knowing reasons behind their actions will be emphasized.

Objectives: The participant will be able to:

  • Verbalize the importance of vital signs and what to report
  • Demonstrate how to perform a manual blood pressure
  • List three key points of caring for a surgical patient
  • Describe basics of two chronic diseases that cause admissions
  • Illustrate good knowledge of communication skills through role playing
  • Discover empowerment in their role
