Nursing Supervisor Boot Camp (3-day) September 2020

Are you a new charge nurse or team supervisor? Or do you aspire to become one someday? Are you a charge nurse or team supervisor who needs to be inspired to do the job more effectively? Are you a newer nursing team leader or manager? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then this boot camp is designed just for you. During this 3-day boot camp we will explore many aspects of nursing supervision in rural healthcare. Throughout this interactive boot camp, participants will be engaged in activities including partner and group discussions, self-reflection, role playing of effective communication/conflict management techniques, problem-solving case studies and collaborative sharing of ideas. This comprehensive course is designed to provide the core foundation of nursing supervision across the care continuum.

Pediatric Assessment/Emergencies- Sept 2020

It is imperative to recognize that pediatric patients are not little adults. This course is designed to review the anatomy and physiology considerations that differentiate the assessment of the pediatric patient from that of an adult. Within the assessment findings, children will demonstrate subtle clues that their condition is beginning to deteriorate requiring the healthcare provider to rapidly intervene before they decompensate. Throughout the day several pediatric emergencies will be reviewed along with describing priority interventions needed/required. Knowledge learned will be applied and integrated into several simulated case studies.

Off the Beaten Path: Training, Practice & Life in Rural WI - 2020

Tour a rural hospital and clinic, hear from rural providers about their practice, listen to a panel of professionals talk about rural life, learn about the rural training opportunities that exist in Wisconsin, and attend various workshops. Through the use of simulation activities, this workshop is designed to help the learner think through various case studies across the age span, while determining priorities of care, the reasoning behind the priorities through high level questioning/synthesizing techniques while reinforcing anatomy and physiology considerations to integrate into clinical practice in attempts to avoid failure to rescue outcomes.
