Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC) is facilitating a second “Stroke Systems of Care” task force to help hospitals achieve Acute Stroke Ready Hospital (ASRH) criteria. This task force is intended to expand the learning from the first 4 sessions offered 2015-2016 as well as educate new hospital teams to stroke best practices. All those attending the previous 4 sessions are encouraged to participate along with those joining us for the first time.

This task force is open to RWHC member and non-member hospitals to give Providers, Nursing Staff, EMS, Emergency Dept., and Stroke Team Leaders an opportunity to review ASRH criteria, identify which elements are in need of development, and share best practices for implementation. These 4 sessions will include an emphasis on education of TIA’s, incorporating the voice of the patient/customer in process improvement, and inpatient stroke identification and process improvement.

RWHC facilitators will be Janet Wagner, BSN, MS-OLQ, CPHQ (Quality Consultant) and Darla Karasek, RN. In addition experts will be presenting best-practices for content areas for these sessions. Task force teams can attend in person at RWHC or virtually.

The event is sponsored in part by the Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Funding for the stroke program is made possible by the Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Prevention Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Participants will be asked to complete pre-work for each of the four sessions. Each session is 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (lunch provided for those attending at RWHC).
