Community Builder:

Wisconsin Partners is a statewide “association of associations” whose goal is to be an effective community building network that brings about positive change through building enduring broad-based relationships that make bold action possible. More information on Wisconsin Partners can be found at 

Wisconsin Partners is seeking a .5 FTE Community Builder. This individual will use strategic community building and organizing techniques to engage stakeholders in community and neighborhood improvement in one of two geographical regions of the state: Fox Valley/Green Bay corridor; and Southcentral/Southwest corridor. The incumbent will also support the efforts of the statewide organization’s development. The primary audiences will be individuals and organizations already engaged in local, regional or statewide initiatives, and specific and strategic new individuals sourced by existing participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES of the position include but are not limited to:
• Actively participate in a collaborative process addressing issues identified by each community that relate to creating more livable communities through collective action;
• Assist with leadership identification, leadership development, and training;
• Build relationships within and among Wisconsin Partners;
• Serve as liaison to stakeholders and neighborhood actors in community organizing activities;
• Build relationships with local “movers and shakers”, and work with them to engage people in the community that will lead to initiatives that meet the interest and needs of the people;
• Represent Wisconsin Partners at appropriate meetings, presentations and community events, as needed;
• Collaboratively develop and implement time specific plans to advance action on issues of importance in each geography;
• Help coordinate neighborhood improvement projects, civic engagement initiatives, and volunteer service efforts;
• Assist with the creation and distribution of communications on Wisconsin Partners’ initiatives and activities, include the website and social media;
• May engage in fundraising activities;
• Facilitate strategic planning, prioritization and action planning among the Wisconsin Partners members

• Two years of relevant professional experience in community development.
• Group facilitation skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
• Good analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Strong time and task management skills
• Genuine commitment and sensitivity to residents and community issues
• Respect for economic, political, and cultural diversity
• Experience working with diverse groups of people
• Highly motivated and independent, yet team-oriented
• Must be able to work some week-ends and evenings and have reliable transportation
• Computer and other standard office equipment skills sufficient to prepare flyers and other communications, maintain databases, correspond via email, and update website.

The Community Builder will be employed by the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC) and contracted to work for Wisconsin Partners. It is anticipated that the Community Builder will spend much of their time meeting with community partners, and will find it most convenient to work remotely/out of his or her home, however, an office space and support is offered by RWHC in Sauk City.

The Community Builder is a half-time exempt position, earning $30-$34/hr.
